Google’s AdSense program is one of the most popular methods webmasters and bloggers have found to help generate some extra revenue. Although the AdSense program is not as popular as it was five years ago, it continues to go strong. When it comes to AdSense, your best bet is to stick to the sidebar ads.

Yes, the banner ads tend to pay a bit better than the ads that will appear off to one side of your website, and at one point they were quite effective. Recent research indicates that the average internet user has become conditioned to finding advertisements at the top of the screen and that they no longer even look there, their eyes automatically drop to the spot where they expect to find relevant content. Based on some marketing surveys, the most effective AdSense ads are the ones that appear on the right hand side of your computer screen.

Make sure that you mingle your image advertisements with text ads. The image ads look nice and give your blog or website visual simulation, but the most effective AdSense ads are the text ones. These are going to generate a higher number of clicks. In addition to generating more clicks, the text ads are less obtrusive than the image ads meaning that there is less chance of making your blog readers or website visitors think that you are overly commercialized.
